  • Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications (if medically appropriate) prior to treatment to reduce bruising. After your appointment, avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, and massaging the treated area for a week. We also recommend avoiding dental procedures for at least 2 weeks before and after your treatment to reduce the risk of complications.

  • Mild swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising at the injection site is common and typically resolves within a few days. Rare complications can include asymmetry or small lumps, which your provider can correct. Juvederm® is not recommended for individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a known allergy to any of its ingredients.
